Some of the most secretive but beautiful snakes in the United States are the Farancia genus! The Eastern Mudsnake (Farancia abacura) has become more common in my life in the past year and I couldn’t be more thankful! These snakes are highly aquatic and shy, coming out in darkness to hunt for aquatic salamanders!
